Why buy a home warranty at closing

  • Coverage starts on your closing date — no 30-day waiting period.
  • Protects systems and appliances you didn’t choose and know little about.
  • Can often be included in closing costs or paid by the seller.
  • Your agent can add a DriveGuard plan for you in minutes.
Inspector checking a home exterior

An inspection is a snapshot. A warranty is a safety net.

A home inspection tells you the condition of a system on one day. DriveGuard covers breakdowns from normal wear and tear for the full term of your contract — when you need it most.

From our customers

Why people choose DriveGuard

I include DriveGuard with every listing. Buyers feel confident and I get far fewer post-closing calls.
Angela P., Realtor — Alexandria, VA
Our dishwasher and dryer both failed in the same month. Two service requests, two flat fees, and both were fixed within the week.
Robert & Lisa K. — Columbia, MD
Across 40 rentals, DriveGuard gives us predictable repair costs and one number to call. Our tenants get faster service, too.

See all FAQs
Can a seller or agent buy a plan for the buyer?

Yes. Plans can be purchased by a buyer, seller or agent and are often paid at closing. Coverage for buyers starts on the closing date.

Is there coverage while my home is listed?

Seller coverage is available during the listing period so a breakdown doesn’t derail the sale. Ask your agent or call us for details.

Do real estate partners receive compensation?

Where permitted by law and the partner’s brokerage, approved partners may receive referral compensation under a written agreement. Some partners participate without compensation.
